Don’t Fail Twice in a Row

“Only a donkey fall twice at the same hole’ – just me.

Around three weeks ago, my husband helped me to make a plan to build a healthy eating habit. I’ve been so bad since the beginning of the year and it was getting worse during the first few weeks of lock down.

It went extremely well during the first week. I managed to build a good eating habit. Three times a day, monitor what I eat, how much I eat, and the best part: not binge-ing. It was amazing that it gives me back my confident that I can take control of my food again.

However, second week passed, then this week is the third week. I haven’t been hitting my plan as I should and I’m struggling to get back to track.

They say it takes 30 days to build a habit and I guess I stopped on the first 10 days or so without having a solid habit for myself yet. So – here I am, still struggling with a good eating habit.

I’ve been trying to stick with one mentality of not failing twice in a row.  It helps (not always, but most of the time) to get me back on track. I have a journal where I just tick and cross my process. My goal is to not have cross twice in a row. As simple as that.

It’s not easy.

Even with that mentality, I sometimes still fail. When that fail happens, I don’t feel good. I don’t feel proud of myself.

But I try to hold onto the following motto:

  • It’s impossible to not fail.
  • When you fail – you can cry; but cry fast then get up.
  • Then, don’t fail again the following day.
  • Hold on a little longer, it’s just one day.

Is it always working? hell no! I’ve been falling again and again – and sometimes it’s frustrating. However, having that mentality allows me to accept that I won’t be successful always and that’s ok – just get up and not fall again.
